Visual inspection is a subjective method,
and the observer's interpretation of the
ndings can vary. Therefore, it is
important to use clear and standardized
criteria for posture assessment. One
such method is the plumb line
technique, which involves using a
weighted string to align the body's
vertical axis with a xed point. This
technique provides a consistent and
reliable way to assess posture.
Visual inspection can be used to identify
posture abnormalities that may
contribute to pain or discomfort. For
example, forward head posture, where
the head is positioned in front of the
body's center of gravity, can result in
neck and shoulder pain. Similarly,
excessive lumbar lordosis, where the
lower back is overly arched, can lead to
lower back pain. Early identi cation of
such postural abnormalities can help
prevent injury and improve overall
health.
